Dancing Between Light and DarknessThe world we inhabit is full of symbolism and patterns. Part of our journey, arguably our responsibility, is tuning into our surroundings as well as our internal workings to decipher the delicate dance between them. Who is leading, and who is following? Which is the original, and which is the reflection? In a house of mirrors, it can be challenging to navigate the interplay between light and shadow, to ultimately trust that our senses will lead us to the exit. In this experience, the feedback loop is uninterrupted, even as we slumber, our subconscious wades through the tides of emotions, sensations, worries, and fears. Eclipses bring us a symbolic interlude, encouraging us to reflect, discern, shed, and transform if necessary. With this eclipse, we’re in the fiery sign of Aries and have a conjunction with Chiron, so there’s an opportunity to assuage our more dominant aspects and heal reactive parts of ourselves when old wounds are prodded. Let’s take a look through the tarot cards to see what we can expect and, of course, how best to embrace the opportunity to cultivate peace within, bringing our external environments to a place of harmony. With this special eclipse spread, the first card represents what lurks (in the least ominous way possible) in the shadows. What is hidden? How are we being reactive, and what could take some attention? The Seven of Wands. We can all get hung up on our particular visions of how things should be done. This card is within the suit of fire, particularly befitting an eclipse in Aries, where we should consider turning down the heat. There may be times when we feel we see the path clearly, and even if we don’t, we can be (overly) confident in our determination to go it alone. We can get wrapped up in blazing our own trail forward, whether that be with brute force, thinking on our toes, strong-arming our way forward, beating down our adversaries and overzealous critics, in whatever shape that flame takes hold, we double down on moving forward, with or without the support we need. The thing is, when we stoke the fire, if we’re not careful, it can quickly get out of control, and we risk burning bridges. Herein lies the shadow we’re being asked to assess at this time. Now that we’ve peeked into the darkness, what is the eclipse illuminating? The Three of Coins reversed. This is why the aforementioned trail-blazing-at-all-costs strategy isn’t going to cut it: we simply don’t know enough to achieve our highest goals alone. Eventually, we’ll reach a point that poses a challenge that will surpass our level of experience. Should we continue to push forward and bat away external suggestions, we’ll be forced to take shortcuts, jimmy together bandaged solutions, and set up the following steps on shaky foundations. This is, of course, all ill-advised, but if we couldn’t swallow our pride and arrogance to reach out to our community and the generous wisdom surrounding us, then so be it; there’s your lesson. Or we can consider a more collaborative approach. So what’s the path? What do we do now? Our guidance comes from the Six of Coins, and it just makes sense. The hermetic name of this card is the Lord of Success, and the key lies in collaboration. Sometimes, we are in a position to help others facing hard times, and it is our duty to reach out and do what we can. Sometimes, we’re the ones facing hard times, and much like the other side of the coin, it is our duty to ask for help. We need each other, and our combined experiences and expertise complete the picture. There’s no shame in asking for help, as there is no glory in helping when you can. This is the natural flow of life, give and take, yin-yang, up and down, all of it in a complex and interconnected web. When we dig our heels in and withhold assistance from others or refuse to ask for a hand, we are actively blocking the karmic and natural flow of the world. We’re being asked to contemplate and incorporate this concept into our lives.
New Moons symbolize new beginnings, so this is a chance for a new way of looking at things and perhaps a new way of doing things. This opens the door to an 18-month period of … Free will is a wonderful thing; regardless of the choices we make, it’s always a win, even if it doesn’t seem like it, as long as we’ve learned something and will apply that knowledge in the future.

HOW TO EMBRACE THE REST OF 2021
We got this! Be human, be kind.
Tarot readings for love are, without a doubt, the request that I most often receive. I mean, we all want to love and be loved, right? How many songs, movies, and other forms of artistic expression do we need to come across to realize "Yep, love is all there is" and act accordingly? I see clients from every phase within the broad specturm of relationship status classifications, and at that heart of things (pun intended), it comes down to the same thing: balance. So let's take a look at what that means in the world of Tarot and how we can apply that to our current, future, and even past relationships.
In traditional Tarot decks, we have four suits that are able to reflect four different aspects of ourselves. We must bring these into balance in order to find flow within, thus it can manifest in our external, physical world. The cards are layered with symbolism and today we're not going to get into all of the meanings represented by the suits, but for this case we can cull them for clarity. Let's take a look at those suits:
Wands: the spiritual plane, passion, adventure, family goals, and legacy
Swords: the mental plane, intellect, critical thinking, communication, ideas
Pentacles: the physical plane, pragmatism, material concerns, security, and stability
Cups: the emotional plane, feelings, happiness, intuition, subconscious, creativity
These are are also related to the four elements, which when we understand their properties and how they work, are a wonderful way to grasp the influence of each suit.
When talking about love and relationships, many people may expect to see Wands or Cups dominate the spread, and depending on the person that may be true, however, the key in forming a long-term, sustainable relationship lies in striking a balance between the four suits. The balance first comes within and then extends to your environment. Many times I see people all up in Swords using their intellect to try to solve then ins, outs and nuances in a partnership, when using their emotional intelligence, located in Cups, would serve everyone in an expansive, understanding way. Other people hold are so focused on the practical security of Coins that they get stuck and keep repeating the same cycles because the cards are beckoning them to revert to Wands to drum up their courage, get out of their comfort zone and pursue an environment that lights their fire and infuses the relationship with passion and adventure. If we are self-aware enough to identify which perspective we're using, we can usually suss out the appropriate course of action. And when we need a little push, the cards are here to help us listen more closely to what our expanded consciousness is trying to tell us.
So how can we know exactly when we need to switch things up to find balance? The cards will lay it out for us pretty clearly if we pay attention. When things are out of balance, we'll see one suit that is overly dominant. We all have one dominant suit but can tap into the other at any time. We may also say reversed cards, which will also indicate an imbalance. If we see a lot of fives, we should also be aware of challenges in that area the suit indicates. The good thing about challenges is that they provide us with an excellent opportunity to grow by navigating them effectively. Once we make it over the hurdle, we no longer have to keep repeating the same, worn out cycles.
When we've identified the points of tension causing the imbalances, then a Tarot spread of guidance is the perfect way to shed light on what vibes and planes we can tap into to reach the point of equilibrium and find balance within to project it externally.
If you would like to know where you stand within the cycles of your relationships, including with yourself, reach out for a reading and we can dig right in!
Happy balancing!
